Fort Cavazos representatives, elected officials and Central Texas community coming together for 'Operation Great Place Cleanup'

The operation is part of a partnership meant to strengthen the relationship between Fort Cavazos and the local community.

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — The Central Texas Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) will host its fourth Annual "Operation Great Place Cleanup" at Fort Cavazos on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., representatives from Fort Cavazos, elected officials and members of the community will join forces to remove litter from the Fort Cavazos Main Gate and East Gate.

The cleanup is reportedly part of the AUSA's Community Connection Program, which aims to increase partnership between Fort Cavazos soldiers and the Central Texas community by providing mentoring programs with local professionals and networking opportunities with senior military, civic, academic and business leaders.

AUSA says the program also offers professional development opportunities to "enhance military careers" and helps to "strengthen the relationship between soldiers and the local community".

Those interested in participating in the program can contact Fernando Fernandez, Committee Chair, at 254-258-9059, or Fernando.fernandez@1stnb.com.
