FEMA to open disaster recovery center in Bell County

This center will be providing assistance to those impacted by the tornado and severe weather that destroyed the region on May 22.

BELL COUNTY, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is set to launch a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Bell County on Wednesday, June 12.

This center will be providing assistance to those impacted by the EF-2 tornado and severe weather that impacted the area on May 22.

The DRC, located at Tarver Elementary School in Temple, will start operations from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on its opening day. The center will also observe regular hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week, for the next 3 to 4 weeks.

At the Tarver DRC facility, residents can learn about topics below:

- Learning about disaster assistance programs provided by FEMA.
- Applying for disaster assistance and receiving guidance throughout the application process.
- Checking the status of their FEMA application.
- Understanding FEMA notices or letters.
- Accessing information regarding housing and rental assistance.
- Receiving referrals to other agencies for additional support.

Individuals unable to visit the DRC during operational hours can still apply for FEMA assistance through alternative channels such as the FEMA app, the website, and their phone number.
