TEMPLE, Texas — The first dog of those saved from Marlin's City Animal Control Center is ready for adoption and her name is Mary Francis!
Mary Francis has put on 14 pounds since she was rescued from the deplorable conditions of the animal center. She is now vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and has tested negative for heartworms. She also has her pro heart 12 shot.
To adopt Mary Francis, her current caregivers ask that you contact Pearl's Place at (254) 654-8307. Pearl's Place is located at 4011 Little River Road in Temple.
Mary Francis' adoption readiness comes right after her rescuers, Dorene Burlew and Frances Fischer, filed a complaint in court calling for criminal charges against the person Fischer says was in charge of the animal center.
6 News was unable to get in touch with Justice of the Peace Kaylah Rosas of Falls County, Precinct One in regard to the status of the filed complaint or any possible arrest warrants.
On January 9, a facebook post made by Jeffrey Rich shocked the Marlin community and state of Texas showing the horrid conditions of the City Animal Control Center. Images and pictures showed feces-laden kennels and dogs with their hips and ribs visible due to presumed malnourishment.
Frances Fischer told 6 News that there was no food or water in Mary Francis' bowls when she was found.
