Boil Water Notice issued for Troy residents due to water main break

Residents are asked to boil water before drinking or using until further notice.

TROY, Texas — Troy residents west of Interstate 35 are being asked to boil water before consumption or use.

The City of Troy announced on Tuesday, April 2 that a Boil Water Notice had been issued, effective immediately, for all water customers on the west side of I-35.

The City said residents should boil water before drinking or using for cooking until further notice.

According to the City, construction crews accidentally broke a water main along West Main Street near I-35 around 11 a.m. The break reportedly caused the loss of all water pressure on the west side of the city.

The City of Troy said the break has been isolated to protect the remainder of the system and repairs are underway.

The City said it anticipated the repairs to take "several hours" to complete.

Customers on the east side of I-35 are reportedly not impacted by the boil notice, said the City.
