City of Temple offering bulk, brush disposal options for residents

The City has options for pick-up and drop-off for both brush and bulk debris.

TEMPLE, Texas — Temple is continuing to recover from tornadoes and severe storms over the last week, and the City is helping the community with the clean-up process.

The City of Temple said Solid Waste crews are continuing to collect bulk material around the community, and D&J Enterprises will begin brush collection on Wednesday, May 29.

The City said crews will begin in different zones to avoid overlap. A map and schedule are available at templetx.gov/solidwaste for residents to see when crews will reach their area.

The City describes brush as "vegetative material" like trees and bushes that are not bagged. They define bulk as things like fencing materials, scrap wood, metal or bagged leaves, grass or household debris that does not fit in a trash bin.

In addition to picking up bulk and brush, the City of Temple also has multiple drop-off locations for both.

As of May 28, residents can bring brush only to the Solid Waste Complex, located at 2611 E Ave H., from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday - Saturday for free.

The landfill is also reportedly open for public use, where residents can take both bulk and brush. More information on the landfill can be found at this link

The City said bulk/garbage only can be taken to:

  • Crossroads Park Tennis Court - 7325 Prairie View Rd.
  • Crestview - 1503 E Ave J
  • Central - 300 S 27th St
  • Bird Creek - 4819 Arrowhead
  • NW Hills - 813 Brandywine Dr
  • Las Cruces (Silo) - 1410 S 4th St
  • Garden - 2005 N 7th St
  • Jackson Park District - 925 N 4th St
  • Ferguson Park District - 1400 E Ave B

The City said for curbside pickup, piles of brush must be separated from piles of bulk. Residents are asked to stack brush and bulk away from mailboxes, cars, gas lines and utility lines to avoid property damage.

Anyone with brush more than 10 feet from the curb is asked to wait for the first collection, then push the remaining brush within 10 feet of the curb, which will be picked up on the next pass-through.

The City says residential garbage is operating on a regular schedule, though residential recycling collections are temporarily suspended as crews focus on garbage collection.
