City of Killeen partners with Veterans Land Board

AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Killeen has forged a partnership with the Veterans Land Board, approving a contract that entrusts the VLB with the daily operations of the cemetery while maintaining ownership.

The contract was approved in a unanimous 6-0 vote. 

Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board chairwoman, Dawn Buckingham, M.D., unveiled this collaboration, highlighting that the VLB will not only retain ownership but also provide essential funding for salaries, employee benefits, and daily operational supplies.

Commissioner Buckingham emphasized the shared commitment to delivering exceptional care and service to Veterans and their families during times of loss.

"Working together, the City of Killeen, the VLB and the GLO will be able to support the needs of Texas Veterans, their families and the incredible cemetery staff whose hard work keep our Texas State Veteran Cemeteries pristine."
