BELTON, Texas — Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, of Bell and Coryell Counties received an early holiday gift this November, in the form of a $15,000 donation from H-E-B.
Eric Tovar, General Manager of the H-E-B store in Belton, TX, and Marie Tashi presented the gift on Friday, Nov. 17 at the CASA offices in Belton.
CASA said the donated funds will support the services that the organization's court-appointed volunteer advocates provide to the children they represent in the Bell and Coryell County communities.
CASA is an organization that works with children in the foster care system to provide them with a court-appointed volunteer to advocate for their best interests, both in the foster care system and in life.
CASA was reportedly one of two organizations in the region to receive corporate grant funds from H-E-B.
“This wonderful support will allow our volunteers to speak up on behalf of the kids we serve and assist our advocates as they build the bond of trust with these children," said CASA Executive Director Kevin Kyle. "Our support helps these kids navigate a very difficult time in their life and the holidays can be especially traumatic when they cannot be with their families. These funds will help us bring joy and Christmas blessings to many children who might otherwise feel alone and separated from family.”
Kyle thanked H-E-B for their support of CASA's mission to advocate for those in the foster care system.
Tovar said H-E-B keeps tabs on agencies that provide "valuable support to vulnerable populations in the community," and wants to reward them for their impact and efforts on the people they serve,
“It’s important that we remember the value of the services that so many great volunteers provide in our community and H-E-B wanted to be part of supporting the amazing work that CASA advocates do as they become the voice for these children they serve,” Tovar said.
