Man who drowned in Waco identified by authorities

WACO, Texas — Authorities have identified the man who drowned while fishing Wednesday night as 38-year-old Miguel Hernandez.

Waco PD and Waco Fire responded to a possible drowning on Wednesday, July 17 near Airport Drive and West Lakeshore Drive after it was reported that a man had fallen down the bank while fishing and had not resurfaced, according to police.

Boats from the Waco Fire Department, Texas Game Wardens in McLennan County and the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office Air One helicopter searched for the man but were unsuccessful as of 9 p.m.. Wednesday night.

The search resumed Thursday morning and the body of the victim was recovered at approximately 12:20 p.m. by authorities.

There is no other information at this time and the family of the victim has been notified.
