'A place for everyone to contribute' | Belton Youth Advisory Commission seeking volunteers for One Community One Day event

One Community One Day is an opportunity for Central Texans to help those in need across the city of Belton with various projects.

BELTON, Texas — The City of Belton Youth Advisory Commission is looking for volunteers for its 2024 One Community One Day event this April.

One Community One Day is a "hands-on, community-wide" service event meant to bring together members of the community to volunteer to assist Central Texans in need with various projects across the city of Belton.

One Community One Day will last from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 20, according to the City of Belton.

The goal of the event is to assist citizens in the community who do not have the support system to help with tasks such as yard work, painting, repairs and more, said the City of Belton. The event is organized by the Youth Advisory Commission and Parks and Recreation Department.

"From beautification efforts to small repairs and beyond, the goal is to make a meaningful impact on those who give and receive service," said the City of Belton in a release about the event.

Residents are invited to volunteer by themselves, with family or as a group.

"There's a place for everyone to contribute," said the City.

"We're thrilled to once again organize One Community One Day and invite everyone in Belton to join us in making a positive difference," said Joe Dyer, staff liaison for the Belton Youth Advisory Commission. "This event embodies the spirit of unity and service that defines our community, and we're excited to see the impact we can make together."

Those who are interested in participating in the event are encouraged to fill out a volunteer form and return it to parksandrec@beltontexas.gov.

According to the City of Belton, citizens can apply for assistance at the Harris Community Center, online through the City of Belton website or by filling out a form distributed with utility bills each January. Up to 20 homes are selected each year after a review process, according to the City.
