City of Belton to continue to suspend brush collection fee as storm cleanup continues

The City said it remains in "storm response mode" and is prepared to handle extra amounts of brush.

BELTON, Texas — Over a month has passed since tornadoes and severe storms swept through Central Texas on May 22, and many communities are still recovering and cleaning up from the damage.

The City of Belton is no different, with many residents still left with brush on their property and the City continuing to collect it.

The City of Belton typically charges a fee when more than six cubic yards of brush are collected in a single week, but in the aftermath of the storms, that fee was temporarily suspended.

As brush collection continues over a month later, the City has said it will continue to suspend the fee, encouraging residents not to hold brush in reserve to avoid paying the extra charge.

The City said it is still in "storm response mode" and is prepared to handle the extra amounts of brush.
