A bomb squad removed a suspicious package Monday at Texas Tech in Lubbock.
The package was located on campus near Talkington Hall's parking lot, the university said. According to Texas Tech, the "suspicious device" was attached to a vehicle just east of the building.
Using its emergency alert system, Texas Tech had urged students and faculty to avoid the area. An all-clear message was given approximately two hours later when students and staff were allowed back into that part of campus.
Around the same time the original investigation was underway on campus, Lubbock Police were also investigating another device found not far away -- inside Happy State Bank near 19th Street and Quaker Avenue. A bomb squad vehicle was dispatched and people were evacuated from nearby businesses. Officers believe the device may have been a pipe bomb, according to NBC affiliate KCBD.
The Lubbock Police Department later released a photo of the suspect they were looking for in connection with the bank incident. His photo is below.
