WACO, Texas — The Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas is accepting applications for its 2024 Free Enterprise Institute Scholarship.
The Museum stated it will give away two $5,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are pursuing further education at an accredited college in "business, entrepreneurship, marketing or a related field".
An award will be given to a McLennan County recipient and a Dallas County recipient, according to the museum, with special consideration being given to students demonstrating financial need. Scholarships will be paid directly to the schools.
The museum said it will announce the winners on social media and local media.
Requirements to apply for the scholarship include:
- Must be a 2023-2024 high school senior
- Must be a resident of either McLennan or Dallas County
- Students considering studying business, entrepreneurship, marketing or a related field
- Must be attending an accredited two-year or four-year university or college with a course of study in business, finance, entrepreneurship, innovative technology, marketing and management
Applications for the scholarship are due at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024. For more information on the scholarship and how to apply, visit this link.
The museum said the scholarship originated with an anonymous donation in honor of co-founder and first President of the Dr. Pepper Museum Wilton Lanning Jr, who the museum says was instrumental in founding the museum and its "longstanding success".
The program has since expanded thanks to a donation from Janet McCarty in honor of Virginia and W.W. "Foots" Clements, who also had instrumental careers at the Dr. Pepper Company, said the museum.
