TEMPLE, Texas — A family-owned Central Texas business could soon bring a taste of Mexico to Temple, Texas.
Helados La Azteca, a popular Waco ice cream shop, has announced that it will soon open a location in downtown Temple.
The business currently has three locations open in Waco and has said that they hope to open more locations across Central Texas.
According to their website, Helados La Azteca was founded in 1998 by the Garcia family and is family-owned and operated.
The Garcia family is from the town of Mexticacan, Jalisco in Mexico and their business brings a scoop of authentic culture to Central Texas, offering menu items such as mangonada and paletas, a type of popsicle that Mexticacan is known for, and 20-30 unique ice cream flavors such as tres leches, avocado, horchata, tequila and mango con chile.

In terms of when Temple residents can expect the new sweet retreat, a post from Helados La Azteca on social media stated "See you very soon #summer2024".
