BELTON, Texas — Looking for some extra money for college? Belton-Waste Management might have some for you.
According to the City of Belton, from now until May 5, Belton-Waste Management is offering multiple scholarships of up to $2,000, adding up to a total of $4,000 overall.
The City said the scholarships are open to graduating seniors in the Belton-Waste Management service area, which includes addresses in the Belton city limits and Three Creeks. The City said applicants can attend any area school.
Those unsure of whether they live within the service area or not can visit this link and type in their address to verify.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a graduating senior
- Must reside in the Belton-Waste Management service area
- Must verify admission to a two-year or four-year college or university, accredited trade school or technical school. Applicants must submit a copy of their acceptance letter, SAT or ACT scores or applicable entrance test.
- Must commit to full-time college status (minimum of 12 hours per semester)
Applications close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. The City said late applications will not be accepted.
Other documents required to apply are:
- The online application
- A 500-word or less essay
- A recommendation from a teacher or counselor
- A letter of recommendation from someone outside of school who is not a family member
- A copy of college acceptance letter and/or scholarship award letters
- Copies of unofficial high school transcript, SAT or ACT test scores or applicable entrance test
