Two Belton High School soccer players to be inducted into Wall of Honor

Allie Angell and Makenna Morrow are set to receive Belton High's most prestigious athletic honor on May 18.

BELTON, Texas — Two Belton High School athletes are set to receive the school's highest athletic honor in May, being inducted into the Belton High School Athletic Wall of Honor.

The school announced former Belton Girls Soccer players Allie Angell and Makenna Morrow are set to be bestowed with the honor on Saturday, May 18, at a ceremony at the Belton High School Gym foyer, located at 600 Lake Road in Belton.

Community members are invited to the event to join the school in "commemorating excellence and legacy". Festivities will begin with a meet and greet with past inductees at 9 a.m. before the induction ceremony at 10 a.m., said Belton High.

Belton High said the Wall of Honor Committee works through an "extensive process" for naming candidates to the Wall and plans ceremonies to honor the athletes.

Belton High said Angell is a native of Temple, Texas who led the soccer team to four district championships and achieved a record of 62-14-7. The school said Angell's defensive skills were "instrumental" to the teams' success, with 62 shutouts in 83 career games.

Angell was named First Team All-State by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) and "earned recognition as a leader and team player," said the school.

Morrow earned Academic All-District honors every year and achieved Academic All-State recognition from TASCO and the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), said BISD. The school said the four-year letter-winner and varsity soccer team captain's leadership was "instrumental to the team's success".

Belton High said Morrow was named District Most Valuable Player her junior and senior year and will leave a legacy as "one of the 'Greats' of Lady Tiger Soccer".

"Belton ISD is proud to honor the outstanding achievements of these two exceptional individuals," said the district in a release.

According to Belton High, the Athletic Wall of Honor celebrates athletic accomplishments from 1909 onward.
