COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M's Taurean York will represent the Aggies at the SEC Football Leadership Council this February, announced Texas A&M Athletics Communications on Feb. 1.
The former Temple High standout will join the rest of the council as it meets at the SEC offices on Feb. 2 and 3.
Items on the agenda for the weekend reportedly include a meeting with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, a review of NCAA and SEC legislative items, a conversation with SEC Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Katie O'Neal and engagement with football officials on rules of the game, student-referee interaction ad careers in officiating.
The council will also reportedly review SEC student-athlete engagement opportunities.
The other members of the SEC Football Leadership Council will include:

- Cameron Ball from Arkansas
- Eugene Asante from Auburn
- Derek Wingo from Florida
- Jalon Walker from Georgia
- Eli Cox from Kentucky
- Josh Williams from LSU
- JJ Pegues from Ole Miss
- Hayes Hammond from Mississippi State
- Kristian Williams from Missouri
- Kai Kroeger from South Carolina
- Omari Thomas from Tennessee
- Bryan Longwell from Vanderbilt
The Football Leadership Council is one of three components of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council, alongside the Men's and Women's Basketball Leadership Councils, according to Texas A&M Athletics Communications.
The Leadership Councils and Student-Athlete Advisory Council provide student-athletes with additional opportunities to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff, said A&M. The councils serve as a "conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules."
