WACO, Texas — A Central Texas legend is headed back to the Lone Star State this July for a special event at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame (TSHOF).
NFL great and Temple native Joe Greene will be featured as the guest speaker at the TSHOF's Lone Star Luncheon on Wednesday, July 24.
According to the TSHOF, the Lone Star Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, located at 1108 S. University Parks Dr. in Waco. The Luncheon will be hosted by NFL Writer and media hall of fame member John McClain.
Individual tickets are $100, with a table of eight costing $750. TSHOF said a limited number of "premium tables" near the stage will be available for $1,000, and presenting sponsor opportunities begin at $2,500.

Greene first made a name for himself at North Texas State (Now the University of North Texas), leading the "Mean Green" to a 23-5-1 record and being named consensus All-American, according to the TSHOF. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969 and was named NFL Rookie of the Year in his first season.
As a defensive end, Greene was part of the Steelers' "Steel Curtain" defense, which helped bring the team four Super Bowl wins in six years, in 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979.
With numerous All-Pro selections and Pro Bowl appearances in his 13-year career, Greene is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in NFL history. Greene is even in the TSHOF himself, having been inducted in 1985, as well as being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
Greene is the latest sports legend to appear at the Lone Star Luncheon, joining the ranks of Lee Trevino, Roger Clemens and the World Series-winning Texas Rangers.
The TSHOF was established in 1951 as the "first and largest" state sports hall of fame in the country, according to the museum. It is home to over 400 sports legends and 13,000 pieces of memorabilia.
