TEMPLE, Texas — There may not be a Batsignal shining in the night above Temple, Texas this Halloween, but one man is still giving trick-or-treaters a chance to visit a scene right out of a comic book.
Every Halloween, Temple resident Ray Storey transforms his home into a little slice of Gotham City, open for all members of the community to come visit.
Storey, also known as Batman, dons the cape and cowl and even the iconic Batman voice as he welcomes every Robin, Joker, Penguin and more to his house at 3110 Keifer Marshall Dr. in Temple.
The display even includes a life-size recreation of the Batmobile/Tumbler from The Dark Knight, which Storey built himself out of 4x4 and 2x4 timber, plywood, plexiglass, window tint, windshield wipers and a lot of paint!
Storey said he initially started the Halloween display as a challenge, but also because he wanted something for his family to bond over.
"I love my kids. I want them to have some really good memories," said Storey. "We take a lot of photos, videos when we do this -- it's something for them to look back on. That's the most important thing."
Storey said it is a plus that he is able to share that same joy with the community. He says he is happy to give back to his neighbors during the night of Halloween.
Storey said he plans to be passing out candy until around 9 p.m., or as long as trick-or-treaters keep coming, so don't miss out on this unique Central Texas Halloween tradition!
