WACO, Texas — Families and friends gather to enjoy the holidays under the 'Wild Lights' at Cameron Park Zoo.
With more than one million lights on display throughout the park, the display is the largest light display in Waco.
All sorts of shimmering bulbs dress up the park in an assortment of colors, lighting up the night.
The animals are tucked in their beds when the lights come on, while they dream of gumdrops and lollipops.
Even though you can't see the animals, there are plenty of light displays created to look like them, from lions, to tigers, even bears.
All the money raised through events like this help the zoo and the animals inside.
"The money raised at events like this help us with new exhibits," Terri Cox, the executive director at the Cameron Park Zoological and Botanical Society, said.
The zoo will break ground on a new penguin shores exhibit at the end of December. There will also be a new education and veterinary complex.
With over 1,700 animals in the zoo, Cox said everyone feels lucky to have a new vet on site.
Children that showed up to the light display, felt lucky to have met Santa.
"I like seeing Santa and all the decorations and animals," one girl visiting the park said.
Some have come to the park to start a new tradition during the holidays.
"We got the chance to get out here, be in the lights and we have some family here as well," a father enjoying the lights said.
'Wild Lights' will be on display through December every Wednesday through Sunday.
