CENTRAL, Texas — Christmas is right around the corner, which means it's time for the people of Central Texas to showcase their most dazzling holiday light displays. The decorating contests are to encourage residents to get into the festive spirit.
The City of Temple is hosting its 3rd Annual Merry & Bright Holiday Lights Tour & Contest. Now through Nov. 30, Temple residents can submit photos of their elaborately decorated homes along with their address to be included in the contest. Community members will then have the chance to vote for their favorite displays, with the winning homeowner receiving bragging rights and a special award presented by Mayor Tim Davis.

Similarly, Killeen is inviting residents to participate in its Outdoor Decorating Contest starting Nov. 25 until Dec. 6. The people of Killeen can submit their entries online starting on Nov. 25, with the public getting to vote for the best holiday setup.
