Day of Giving | Armed Services YMCA asking for community donations this Giving Tuesday

The ASYMCA in Harker Heights is asking for your donations this Day of Giving.

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas — Of all the holidays to celebrate this season, take time to give back this Tuesday for Giving Tuesday.

The Armed Services YMCA in Harker Heights will accept donations online and in person today.

All monetary donations will go back to active duty military, veterans and their families in Central Texas. Food donations will not be accepted at this time.

"Ten dollars could potentially feed ten families," Marketing Director Lillian Bruner said.

Last year the ASYMCA raised over $50-thousand. They hope to reach a goal of $40-thousand or more in 2023.

Donations will be accepted until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The ASYMCA has a host of programs that help military personal and their families. Without events like this it wouldn't be possible to keep them going.

You can find a list of their programs here.

Along with their programs, the ASYMCA also has a list of resources for military families on their blog.

Their Mission:

The ASYMCA enhances the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind and body through programs relevant to the challenges of military life.

While their focus is on strengthening military families, Armed Services YMCA Killeen empowers everyone, no matter who they are or where they’re from, by ensuring access to resources, relationships, and opportunities for all to learn, grow, and thrive.

Texas Today will be live at the ASYMCA starting at 5:30 this morning. Tune in to hear why they give back and how you can take part in Giving Tuesday.

More on ASYMCA:

The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) is the constant in a military family’s life: on the home front and during deployment, when transitioning between bases, and in times of conflict and peace.

The ASYMCA is an Association of the YMCA of the USA, specifically dedicated to serving active duty junior enlisted military service members and their families of all six armed services: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard.

The oldest military support organization in the U.S., the ASYMCA has been “Strengthening Our Military Family®” since 1861 through its 12 branches and 24 affiliate partners, serving 87 military installations and facilities nationwide.

Our nationally and locally tailored programs and services for our nation’s troops and their families are offered at no or low cost and require no dues or membership fees.
