Killeen girl makes signs for nursing home residents during shelter in place order

Naomi Williams is only six years old, but that isn't stopping her from making a difference.

KILLEEN, Texas — Shelter in place orders has many people feeling more alone than ever as they're separated from those they love most. However, a little girl in Killeen is doing her part to lift their spirits.

Naomi Williams is only six years old, but that isn't stopping her from making a difference.

Williams is creating signs with positive messages on them which she then places in lawns outside of area nursing homes.

She got started about two weeks ago as part of her five hills service project and is even including some of her friends as volunteers.

Williams said no one should be alone during these tough times and she hopes her signs make at least one person feel supported.

"Some of the grandmas and grandpas don't have any family, so we wanted to make them feel loved and special. I want other people to make signs and put them in people's yards" Williams said.

Williams said she's gotten a lot of positive feedback on her signs so far. Her mother Danielle Williams said it's important everyone gives back if they can and that she's proud of her daughter for doing so.

"It makes me feel good she's always trying to help always trying to make people smile and laugh," Danielle Williams said.

Williams is currently placing signs outside of nursing homes in Copperas Cove but plans to expand to surrounding areas as well.

She is hopeful that her markers, construction paper and kind spirit will help bring a smile to so many others.
