KILLEEN, Texas — Galaxy BnG located at 104 West Veterans Memorial Blvd in Killeen, is serving up an intergalactic experience for the entire family to enjoy.
“We want you to come in and have to take a tour." Co-Owner Jamie Myers told 6News. "I receive a crazy amount of dopamine from the first timers who walk in with big eyes, seeing everything that we have.”
Myers is one half of a powerful duo providing a safe space for your inner geek since 2013.
“The intention of starting the restaurant was to have somewhere that we would like to hangout at. Somewhere you could have whatever you want and whatever time of day.”
Galaxy BnG is more than a place to eat, it’s a place to fully immerse yourself in. From pop culture references in the decor, to Starwars, Transformers and Barbie merchandise, along with free-to-play arcade games, there is something for everyone and that’s by design. Jamie and her partner are making the most of what they have now, following more humble beginnings.
“When we started, we were in a completely different building so we had a lot less space to work with at that time," Myers said. "We still had the same general ambiance that we have now."
GLORIOUSLY INTIMIDATING
The environment brings you into Galaxy BnG the first time...the food keeps you coming back for more.
“We wanted to make sure that [the menu] was very punny," Myers said. "We first came up with the names we wanted to use and then we kind of matched the craziest food that we could think of to the name.”
One of the crazy concoctions is their Galactic Madness burger. This was described as a double bacon cheese burger, sandwiched in between two grilled cheese sandwiches and 6News got a behind-the-scenes look at it being made.
First, to the griddle goes two burger patties and some bacon. Then four slices of Texas toast to later be used for the two separate grilled cheese sandwiches.
As that cooks, in goes your two sides! French fries and onion rings!
Next the American cheese is added, and the bacon gets sandwiched in between the patties! Lastly, the 'works' get added: lettuce, tomato, mayo and pickles!
The end result is a gloriously intimidating meal.
Myers and her team understand the significance of being in business for over a decade and making a unique mark in Central Texas.
“We do feel like we are a staple in Killeen and we are something that people come to Killeen to see," Myers said. "The people of Killeen have been nothing but supportive from the very beginning. We love the downtown area. It means the world to us.”
