CLIFTON, Texas — Residents of Clifton have cause for excitement as the City announces the commencement of reconstruction efforts at Cockrell-Thiele Park.
Wednesday, March 13, marked the initiation of work to clear out the outdated playground equipment, paving the way for a revitalized park experience for all.
According to the city's website, in 2019 the City of Clifton obtained a Cockrell-Thiele Park through an agreement with Clifton Independent School District.
Cockrell-Thiele Park is located on West Eleventh Street and South Avenue J. The park served as the playground at Clifton Elementary School for many decades and includes playground equipment and a walking path.
Cockrell-Thiele Park is easily accessed by foot or bicycle. Cockrell-Thiele Park honors two beloved educators and generous servants of the Clifton community, father John Thiele and daughter Kjersten Thiele Cockrell.
The project, aimed at enhancing recreational opportunities and community engagement, will see the installation of brand-new park equipment and additional spaces.
As work progresses, the City encourages residents to stay updated on developments and look forward to the grand reopening of Cockrell-Thiele Park.
