TEMPLE, Texas — A large number of wildfires are burning across Canada, with reportedly over 400 blazes displacing around 20,000 people throughout the county.
The fires have also affected those beyond Canada, as smoke from the blazes has spread into the northern United States as well.
Places like New York, Pennsylvania and even as far as Indiana have been shrouded in a yellow haze, delaying flights, postponing baseball games and causing concerns over whether the air is safe for residents to breathe.
Many people on social media had their own takes on the smoky air, with some users voicing concerns over the effects of the possibly unhealthy air.
One user posted pictures showing the stark contrast before and after the haze rolled in, illustrating just how much of a difference it has made.
A few users showed up close looks at how much the smoke is affecting the city, such as causing flight delays at LaGuardia Airport.
Other users poked fun at the situation, comparing the yellow-looking haze to everything from Godzilla to Blade Runner to Spiderman.
Many residents are breaking out their pandemic-era masks again to try and combat some of the smoky air.
Canadian officials say this has potential to be the worst wildfire season the country has ever seen, and have requested additional help from other countries to fight the fires.
The United States government has reportedly sent over 600 firefighters to help, and more personnel are expected to arrive from countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa as well.
