CHINA SPRING, Texas — Jennifer Hughes, a dynamic 4th-grade teacher at China Spring Elementary, emerged as the latest recipient of 6 News' Taking Care of Teachers Giveaway.
Hughes, in her first year of teaching at the institution, found herself pleasantly surprised when what she believed to be a routine meeting in the principal's office turned into a celebration.
Having transitioned into teaching as her second career, Hughes radiates passion for it, driven by her lifelong affection for children and a desire to contribute more to their development.
"I love how hard they work," Hughes said, reflecting on her students. "And I love that they love to learn and are excited to learn."
Hughes' commitment to fostering an engaging learning environment was echoed in her sentiments about her class.
"They come in and read, and that excites and motivates me," she remarked. "We make learning fun. We have fun together."
Prior to her teaching journey, Hughes lent her talents as a nutrition education counselor and also served as a secretary within the athletics department. Now, her dedication to education has been rewarded with a Domino's pizza party not just for herself but for the entire staff at China Spring Elementary.
