WACO, Texas — McLane Stadium in Waco is gearing up for a grand solar eclipse viewing event on April 8.
The eclipse will start at 1:38 p.m. and last for 4 minutes and 12 seconds. McLane Stadium, with its 45,000-seat capacity, offers a prime viewing location for this rare event.
Attendees can expect an organized setup complete with telescopes and astronomers providing guided viewing experiences. In addition to the eclipse, the event will also feature a 5K run.
This event follows the success of Lowell Observatory's 2017 eclipse event in Oregon. The Discovery Channel plans to broadcast the Waco eclipse live, bringing the eclipse showcase to viewers around the world.
Tickets for the event are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children, including ISO-certified solar glasses. Parking will be available at a cost of $25.
The event is organized by Lowell Observatory in collaboration with the City of Waco and Baylor University.
