'Taste of the Holiday' happening Thursday in Temple.

The event will feature a luncheon and fashion show. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic Center.

TEMPLE, Texas — Altrusa International will host its 37th annual 'Taste of the Holidays' luncheon and fashion show on Thursday, Nov. 16.

The event will take place at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic Center, located at 3303 N. 3rd St. in Temple.

"So, this year the theme is Love and Light and it's much like 2017 when we chose, we did a tribute to the military this year," Committee Chair Julie Ruiz said. "It's a tribute to all those touched by cancer."

Ruiz says they selected that theme because so many people in the organization and community have been impacted by cancer.

"Whether we've lost members, surviving spouses," Ruiz said. "So, what's really cool about this year's event is that our models are cancer survivors. Some of the performers are cancer survivors. So, it's just a really, really unique way for us to spotlight this community."

Tickets for the event cost $60 per person and $480 for a table.  You may also buy raffle tickets. The money from the event will go towards scholarships for local students.

The link to to buy tickets can be found here.

Doors for the event open at 10:30 a.m. and the luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, Committee Chairs Julie Ruiz and Hope LaGrone stopped by the 6 News studios to share more about the event on Texas Today, check out the video below.
