WACO, Texas — Dust off those boots and get ready for a show, Waco, Dwight Yoakam is coming to town for a free concert!
The Waco Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the country music legend will headline the Lights Over Waco festival in April, wrapping up the Live from Waco weekend festivities on April 5-7.
The free concert will be held at Indian Spring Park, located at 101 N. University Parks Dr., on Sunday, April 7, with Yoakam being one of the many artists slated to perform.
Yoakam is a multi-time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, actor and director, best known for his country hits like "Streets of Bakersfield", "Guitars, Cadillacs" and "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere".
"From sold-out arenas to intimate venues, Dwight Yoakam has been electrifying audiences for decades with his signature sound, profound songwriting skills and undeniable talent," said Waco Parks and Recreation in a social media post announcing Yoakam as headliner. "From honky-tonk melodies and twangy guitar riffs to heartfelt ballads and bluegrass beats, his music speaks to the soul of America."
The festivities will continue after the concert, with the City showing off a drone display made up of 300 drones, a lantern parade across the Waco Suspension Bridge and more.
