AUSTIN, Texas — In a video posted to social media on Thursday, actor Mark Wahlberg expressed his appreciation for H-E-B workers serving Texans during the COVID-19 crisis.
Wahlberg owns the Wahlburgers burger chain with his brothers, Donnie and Paul, with a location in Frisco, Texas.
In the video, Wahlberg said thank you to all the H-E-B employees for “manning the frontlines for us and doing a great job keeping all of us stocked with all of the things we need to survive.”
“I appreciate what you’re doing, and I know how hard you’ve all been working,” he said. “We are all appreciative, and what you’re doing for America is so amazing.”
The supermarket chain has received praise for its response to the coronavirus pandemic, even from outside Texas.
Last week, “The Governator” himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, tweeted an article on H-E-B’s response to the pandemic, calling it “a masterclass in preparation and being ready to support your community.”
Since the pandemic, H-E-B has extended its $2 per hour “Texas Proud Pay” to employees through at least May 10 to show its appreciation for employees’ hard work.
