Killeen dance team wins three national championships in California

The dancers at Spotlight Dance Company knows all too well what it means to be a winner.

KILLEEN, Texas — A Killeen dance team has twirled their way to victory by earning a national dance championship.

The dancers at Spotlight Dance Company knows all too well what it means to be a winner.

After competing against 31 other studios in San Diego, CA, they walked away with three national championship awards.

One of the winning routines included their entire competitive company, which includes dancers ranging from ages 4-18 years old.

The owner and director of spotlight dance studio said this win was a really big deal due to some tough competition.

"I’m speechless,” said Tabatha Lemacks. “Every day I keep playing it over and over in my mind like was that real. I just never thought we would be able to bring something like that back home to Killeen or even Texas."

The minis competed in the eight and under category and made history by being the first five and under team to make it to the grand finals. They competed against 32 other teams and came in fourth out of 32.

Their winning team also received a nomination for the 2024 people's choice for the industry dance awards in Hollywood, which will be held in October.

If there are any parents out there who want their child to be a part of this award-winning team. They will have auditions on July 27.
