CENTRAL, Texas — To mark National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 4, Governor Greg Abbott stopped by Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco to celebrate the many students and workers in manufacturing.
"TSTC offers career and technical training so that graduates can go on to high demand and high paying jobs across our state," Abbott said at the event. "An opportunity to give career-driven and technical training skills that can lead to a better job and a bigger paycheck."
At the event, Abbott was presented with a welded hammer by Precision Made and Technology student Blake Williamson. Williamson believes in bringing manufacturing back to America. Director of Alignment for Precision Machine Technology Jeremy Bailey agrees.
"People want American made," said Bailey. "We have to have people in America to make that and we teach people how to do it."
"Working with future generations, TSTC wants to help build a better tomorrow," Bailey continued. "It's important if you want to shape the world you have to know how to do stuff like this."
Bailey also said he wants to make sure students succeed, and he does that by showing them the importance of American made products.
At the end of the event, Abbott thanked TSTC and similar schools for teaching and creating a skilled workforce for the future of Texas Manufacturers.
