Rogers Police Department cancels Family Movie Night

Rogers PD said it will attempt to get a Public Use Movie License to schedule future events.

ROGERS, Texas — The Rogers Police Department has announced that the Family Movie Night originally planned for July 27 has been cancelled at this time.

According to Rogers PD, it was brought to their attention that showing a movie to the public could possibly violate copyright laws, leading the department to cancel the event out of caution.

"It was not the intent of the Rogers Police Department to violate any laws," the department said in a statement on social media.

Rogers PD said it will attempt to obtain a Public Use Movie License for future events to "bring the public together".

The department said future events will be announced.

According to the City of Rogers, the Police Department originally planned to present Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. on July 27, showing Dreamworks' "Home" at the Rogers Civic Center. The event was planned to benefit Operation Blue Santa.
