REWATCH | City of Temple Christmas Parade 2023

TEMPLE, Texas — The City of Temple will be hosting its 77th annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting event on Monday, Dec. 4 with a theme of "An Old-Fashioned Christmas."

The tree lighting is set to take place at 6:15 p.m. at the City Hall Municipal building parking lot at 2 North Main St., followed by the Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m. The parade is expected to last an hour and a half and will feature light-up displays from over 100 applicants, the city said in a news release.

Parade Route

The parade is set to start at the intersection of East Adams Avenue and North 8th Street, then will proceed west on Adams Avenue. It will end at Temple High School, 415 North 31st St.

By 7:20 p.m., Santa will arrive on W. Adams Avenue. The map of the parade route is below.

How to view

In person: Viewing for the parade is street-side, meaning visitors can watch anywhere along the parade route. Seating is first-come, first-serve.

The city recommends you get there early and bring seating so you can enjoy the parade comfortably.

Parking

Free parking will be available at the City Hall parking lot and various Downtown Temple locations, including the Santa Fe Plaza, the new Extraco Parking Plaza, and street parking not on the parade route.

Road Closures

Closing at 4 p.m.:

  • North 6th Street will be closed from Central to East Adams Avenue.
  • North 8th Street will be closed from East Houston Street to East Adams Avenue.

Closing at 5:45 p.m.:

  • East Adams Avenue will be closed from North 8th Street to North 23rd Street.

All roads will reopen immediately following the parade. Expect detours in the area.
