Copperas Cove Police and Fire Departments to face off in Toy Bowl flag football game

The event will benefit the department's Christmas event to hand out holiday gifts to children in the community.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Are you ready for some football?  The Copperas Cove Police Department is set to take on the Copperas Cove Fire Department in the showdown of the century this November, all for a good cause.

At noon on Saturday, Nov. 25, the two departments will meet on the field at SC Lee-Hanke Stadium for the 2023 Toy Bowl, a flag football match meant to raise money and collect toys for the CCPD's annual Christmas event.

During the Christmas event, members of the Copperas Cove Police Department, accompanied by Santa himself, travel around the city to pre-determined locations and hand out wrapped gifts to children in the community.

CCPD said the Toy Bowl game is open to all community members, families or flag football enthusiasts, and promised a game full of "laughter, camaraderie and friendly competition".

Attendees to the game are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or make a cash donation as the entry fee for the game, which will go towards the gift giveaway.

"This event provides a unique opportunity for us to connect with the youth and their families during the holiday season, making this occasion truly meaningful," CCPD said in a release about the game.

CCPD said times and locations for the Christmas event will be given closer to the time of the event.

SC Lee-Hanke Stadium is located at 1205 Courtney Ln, Copperas Cove, TX.
