'A paw-some pup party' | Killeen inviting residents and pets to Bow Wow Luau on Sept. 7

The event will reportedly feature a host of activities, including a costume contest, most talented contest, most loveable contest, swim time, vendors and more.

KILLEEN, Texas — Looking to beat the heat with your four-legged friend this summer? The City of Killeen has the event for you.

The City of Killeen Parks and Recreation Division's popular pet event is returning this September, the Bow Wow Luau!

The luau will be held at the Killeen Family Aquatic Center, located at 1800 E. Stan Schlueter Loop Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Pups and their owners can enjoy the pool, along with some free doggie swag bags and Black Rifle pup cups.

According to the City of Killeen, the event will feature a host of activities, including a costume contest, a most talented contest, most loveable contest, swim time, vendors and more.

"Join us for a paw-some pup party and enjoy some fun in the sun!" The City said in a flyer for the event.

The event is free to attend and open to the public, but attendees are required to register and all pets must be vaccinated. Vaccination records should be sent to animalcontrol@killeentexas.gov within 24 hours of registering, according to the City.
