Cameron Park Zoo hosting 'Sensory Sunday' for guests with sensory needs

The zoo said the event will include free sensory bags, a guide to quiet parts of the zoo and more.

WACO, Texas — The Cameron Park Zoo is aiming to be a little more inclusive this weekend.

July is Disability Awareness Month, and in pursuit of accessibility for its guests, the zoo will host a "Sensory Sunday" on Sunday, July 28.

The event is intended to make the zoo less stimulating for guests with sensory needs or those who would like a "quieter" zoo.

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the zoo will turn off waterfalls and other loud water features, have a guide to quiet areas in the zoo and offer free sensory bags available for guests to checkout at admissions.

"Cameron Park Zoo is always striving to be more inclusive and accessible to all guests who come to visit," said the zoo in a post on social media about the event.

Sensory Sunday is included with General Admission tickets or memberships, according to the zoo.
