TEMPLE, Texas — 6 News is Here to Help.
In the wake of devastating storms and tornadoes in Temple and across Central Texas, KCEN 6 News partnered with Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and provided free food to those affected.
On Monday, June 3, the 6 News team and Raising Cane's gave out 200 free meals to community members at Tarver Elementary, located at 7949 Stonehollow Dr. in Temple.
The event was a success! All 200 meals were gone in just 18 minutes.
"There is an on-going need in Temple after last week's tornadoes and at KCEN 6 News we realized we needed to help," said President and General Manager of KCEN KAGS Rob Dwyer. "We have partnered with Raising Cane's to bring food to those impacted and still displaced from their homes. We hope that this can bring some comfort and we will continue to look for ways to help those in need."
Christopher Hill, Restaurant Partner, Fry Cook & Cashier at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers C477 in Killeen, gave 6 News the following statement.
At Raising Cane’s, we are committed to our Community and giving back any way we can. Knowing that this Community that we are ingrained in was impacted by a tornado, we decided to jump in and fulfill a need for our residents. We are doing that by feeding 200 residents who are currently struggling in the aftermath of the storm. Being from Temple, I feel it is the right thing to do to assist families who were impacted. When our Central Texas Community suffers, we do what we can to get involved and serve them our One Love.
