WACO, Texas — Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says they are shutting down roads from Dec. 9 until early 2022 as part of the My35 Waco Construction project.
According to TxDOT crews will be constructing 4th and 5th Streets to become traditional T-intersections at the I-35 frontage roads.
As part of this work, TxDOT says crews plan to close 4th Street where it crosses under I-35. Prior to 4th Street closing, crews will open the north to south, TxDOT stated.
As an alternative to this route, TxDOT says they will also allow access to the U-turn at 5th Street to assist with traffic flow and access to local businesses on the west side of the interstate.
TxDOT says drivers will likewise have access to the northbound frontage road and University Parks Drive to travel westbound under I-35.
People walking and crossing the street won't really have any interference except for a slight shift of the existing path on 5th Street to 4th Street if necessary, according to TxDOT.
