GATESVILLE, Texas — With high school football a few months away, the coaching carousel continues in Central Texas.
Kyle Cooper confirmed to Channel 6 sports that he resigned as the head football coach at Gatesville to accept a position at Mount Vernon.
Cooper said he isn't completely sure what his specific position will be, but he will be on the offensive side of the ball.
In 12 seasons, Cooper had an overall record of 61-60 with five playoff appearances.
He joins former Baylor head football coach Art Briles, who was hired on May 24 as the head football coach at Mount Vernon.
