Two plead guilty to murder of Rockdale woman

The Milam County District Attorney's office will seek 50 year sentences for Edward Barry and Candice Jones after they pleaded guilty to the murder of Emily Hacker.

CAMERON, Texas — Two people pleaded guilty Thursday morning in a Milam County court to the murder of a Rockdale woman who was killed in 2017, according to the Milam County District Attorney's office.

Candice Jones, 32, and Edward Barry, 32, both entered guilty pleas for first degree murder.

Emily Hacker's body was found in January, 2017 in a shallow grave in Burleson County. She had been missing since Jan. 19 and was found near the town of Lyons.

Two other people, John Stewart and Ashley Zawadzke, were also charged with Hacker's murder. The district attorney's office would not give an update on their cases as of Thursday afternoon.

Jones and Barry are scheduled to be sentenced in July at which time prosecutors said they will seek a 50 year sentence for each of them.
