TEMPLE, Texas — Corden Fidler had to be sedated and return to ventilation after a 12-hour surgery to reconstruct his scalp Tuesday, according to his father Mathew Fidler.
The 4-year-old boy was seriously injured after his stepfather shot him multiple times in a murder-suicide last December. Corden's mother and another woman were killed in the shooting.
"He's back on the vent and sedated for a while," Mathew wrote in a Facebook post. "It feels like we're back in January. Not sure where we go from here, but we'll keep pushing on until we get home."
The update comes after family reported great progress in Corden's recovery in the months since the shooting.
