'They don't fix nothing around here' | Troy residents frustrated over condition of Goates Road

Troy residents said they've been asking the City for years to fix Goates Road.

TROY, Texas — Residents in the city of Troy are tired of popping their tires on potholes and driving over crumbling asphalt.

Goates Road has posed a problem for many drivers in the surrounding neighborhoods for years and they say nothing has been done about it.

Residents told 6 News the City is telling them the road will be complete when the construction of new homes in the area is finished.

"They patch it (the road) up but then those patches wash away in the rain," one resident who wishes to remain anonymous said.

An HOA Board Member of Cottonwood Creek who also wishes to remain anonymous told 6 News a grant is supposed to be proposed at the next City Council meeting on Feb. 12. This grant will reportedly provide the funds for Goates Road to be fully repaired.

"It seems to me when we voted for the tax increase... they should've started immediately," a concerned resident said.

That's top of mind for many residents: where is their taxpayer money going?

As for when the road will be fixed, there is no timeline. Residents hope it will be in time for their cars to stop breaking so they can get home safely.

"I'm going to have to put a new front end on my wife's car," said a homeowner.

"So many people who have had their tires pop or their wheel bent," said another.
