A 'crepe' place for brunch in downtown Salado

Shoppes on Main, Market Street Cafe and Creperie has everything you need to kick off your spring adventures.

SALADO, Texas — When I go shopping, I know I never want to do it on an empty stomach, so when food and shopping comes together in Salado, it's a win-win for me.

Shoppes on Main Boutique Marketplace & Cafe is the place to be if you're looking for an experience where you can get good food and a great gift in one trip.

This spot right on Main St. is known to have the only crepes in town. They're both savory and sweet, and pair well with the Cafe's coffee and other beverages.

"We have macrons, and other pastries too," Lara Tracy, one of the owners of the store, said.

If you're lucky on Saturdays, you can get a Crepe before noon because as soon at the clock strike twelve, Tracy said they're normally sold out.

"People just love our crepes," she added.

It's not just the crepes they love. It's the coffee too.

After I made my "Curious George" crepe with Tracy, which consisted of Nutella, bananas and a few other things, I took a sip of my iced coffee.

I'm no connoisseur of coffee but I have to say that is on the top of my list.

Tracy told me their iced coffee also comes bottled, which you don't find many places except your chain brand coffee spots.

So the place has it all.

Open for ten years, Tracy runs the business with her sister and mother. They love what they do.

"It doesn't really feel like work," she said.

The family will continue serving their community one crepe at a time.

The next time you're out in Salado, check out Shoppes on Main, Boutique Marketplace & Cafe and enjoy your crepe or coffee inside or outside for the perfect spring time brunch.
