WACO, Texas — Two members of the 6 News team put their culinary and decorating skills to the test at the Cameron Park Zoo this week as they competed in the Inaugural Reliant Gingerbread House Decorating Contest.
Meteorologist Avaionia Smith and Sports Reporter Sydney Wicker spent the day hard at work building their best gingerbread creation, all for a good cause.
The pair had 45 minutes to compete against other teams in the hunt for the top spot.
All competing teams earned $500 for the charity of their choice, with the "best in show" house earning an additional $1,000 and the runner-up winning a bonus $500.
Avaionia and Sydney's gingerbread house turned out so well, it earned them second place in the contest and won $1,000 for Communities in Schools of Greater Central Texas!
