High winds, winter weather expected Thursday

Between strong wind and intermittent rain, an unsettled weather pattern will move through Central Texas late afternoon to Thursday night.

TEMPLE, Texas — Between strong wind and intermittent rain, an unsettled weather pattern will move through Central Texas late afternoon to Thursday night.

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for a number of Central and North Texas counties from 3 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday. Beginning around 10 a.m., 20-to-30 mph winds and 50-to-55 mph gusts are possible.

The National Weather Service also upgraded the an initial Winter Weather Watch to a Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday afternoon to Friday for: Comanche, Brownwood, Hamilton, Goldthwaite and Lampasas counties.

Less than 3 inches of ice or snow accumulation is possible west of Interstate-35. Icy conditions are not expected along the interstate.

As far as temperatures, highs will rise to the low 60s, and will drop to around 40 degrees by the nighttime.
