BELLMEAD, Texas — Disguised as a 14-year-old female online user, a Bellmead Violence Against Women Act detective lured a Valley Mills resident to his arrest Tuesday after he attempted to meet the detective for sex, according to a press release.
The Bellmead Police Department arrested David Eugene Loveless, 42, on Tuesday and charged him for online solicitation of a minor and evading in his vehicle during the arrest, according to the release.
Since last week, the detective talked to Loveless on a decoy social media account that caused him to believe he was sending sexually suggestive messages to a 14-year-old female, according to the release.
Loveless eventually requested to meet the detective at a designated location at 3 p.m. Tuesday, where he was instead greeted by Bellmead police.
After police initiated a felony traffic stop, Loveless evaded arrest by driving away. According to the release, he was arrested without further trouble once he reached a dead end.
The Bellmead Police Department wants parents to monitor their children's social media accounts and online messaging use to prevent criminal acts similar to Tuesday's arrest.
