KILLEEN, Texas -- Video has been released by a witness to the fatal shooting of Curtis Shelley on Nov. 12, 2017 in Killeen.
The footage shows a verbal argument between Shelley and another man who appeared to have been driving a pickup truck prior to the confrontation. The second man is a relative of a Killeen Police Department employee, according to multiple interview accounts, an image match and public comments by law enforcement.
KPD requested the assistance of the Texas Rangers in the investigation of the shooting.
The initial investigation determined that Shelley, 27, was shot around 2:10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Cedar Drive in Killeen, after the other man fired his weapon. Shelley was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he died from his injuries around 4:52 p.m.
Once the investigation is complete, the case will be sent to the Bell County District Attorney's Office for review.
