TEMPLE, Texas -- The Temple Police Department launched an investigation after some teenagers reported seeing their 15-year-old friend abducted at gunpoint at the Sam's Club on Marlandwood Road in Temple Saturday night.

Investigators said the kidnapping allegedly happened in the stairway between the Sam's Club and the nearby Walmart, and the suspect vehicle sped off toward Academy. The apparent victim, whose name was not released, was later confirmed to be safe and with his aunt, who brought him to the police department.

Based on the victim's statements, police believe the kidnapper mixed the victim up with someone else who the kidnapper believed had helped steal his vehicle. The kidnapper reportedly dropped the victim off at the Wells Fargo Bank on S. 31st Street after realizing the teen did not know what he was talking about.

The kidnapping suspect was described only as a light-skinned male, who was in a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu. No license plate or further description of the individual was provided by a Temple Police Spokesperson.
